Lipari is the main island in the Aeolian Islands. The Aeolian Islands are young and partly active volcanic islands with an impressive wild scenery with high mountains and deep valleys surrounded by a deep blue Mediterranean Sea. The summer temperatures are 15-30 Celsius (18-28 Celsius water temperature!) with almost 100% sunny days. The water, considered to be the most clean in the Mediterrenean, offers great diving opportunities. The Aeolian islands have been inhabited since the Obsidian stone age and have since for centuries been a cultural and economic centre. The Archaeological Museum of Lipari shows you the greatly documented history of the Islands.
